2019 is going to be fantastic year for fashion.
From female empowerment to the surfacing of environmentally sustainable design, designers have prepared a jam-packed year for us.
But trends are hard to decipher and at times seem repetitive – I mean, when will “modernism” stop trending?! To help you digest the trends that are about to hit our streets, we have arranged a practical guide, enjoy x
Fashion Trend 2019 #1 – Jumpsuits
Jumpsuits are a fantastic alternative to trying to match up a blazer, a top, then a skirt or pant all together. Think about it – why do we all love flow dresses so much? Because it’s easy! High and low brands have all graced the runway with this practical alternative to styling.
THE LOOK: Chic in head-to-toe one colour, or colour/pattern blocked for an interesting twist.
Fashion Trend 2019 #2 – Living Coral
Pantone announced “Living Coral” as its 2019 Color of the Year—officially, PANTONE 16-1546 Living Coral—describing it as “an animating and life-affirming coral hue with a golden undertone that energizes and enlivens with a softer edge.” From Bella Hadid’s allure magazine cover to Interior Designer @lerabrumina’s highlight of the shade at @breadway_ods, the colour is already shaping up a storm not only in fashion but in art and culture. Snatch up a trendy item in the vivid summer hue!
THE LOOK: Carry the shade through in a tailored dress for a formal look or a loose shirt for a casual affair.
Fashion Trend 2019 #3 – The Short Suit
Let’s face it – “Empowerment = Tailored Suit” is a boring equation. And designers seem to agree. Gone are those chiseled, couture black chic suits and in comes a more loose, comfortable and flirty version – the short suit. Set yourself up with a short suit ensemble this summer and upgrade that work wardrobe.
THE LOOK: Linen shirt, pant and blazer for that summer vibe. Switch out the skirt with a boyish short to give off the I-don’t-care-and-I-don’t-have-to look.
Fashion Trend 2019 #4 – Workathleisure
Athleisure was a big hit all through 2015-2018, with sport mixing in with leisure lifestyle. Good news ladies. You can now wear your comfy gym looks to work – maybe with little tricks here and there. Designers prepped up the runway with boss ladies wearing cross-body fanny packs and gentlemen wearing the “ugly sneakers” – giving us the license to incorporate gym gear into our work wardrobe. A safe place to start obviously is your shoes – but don’t be afraid to wear that black statement T with your tailored pant with your no.1 sport bra underneath.
THE LOOK: Full suit with sneakers. Work skirt with a statement T. Mesh sport top with Tailored pant. Mix & blend it it.
Fashion Trend 2019 #5 – Sustainable clothing
Sustainable clothing have been on the rise (yes!) and we are all here for it. Since mastermind Lagerfeld’s “eco-couture” show in 2016, more high-end designers have been embracing environmentally sustainable methods. Below are some sustainable pieces we have found from our Shop You designers – from Stella McCartney to Spell & The Gypsy Collective. Take your pick and enjoy!
THE LOOK: Anything! As long as the process and handling of the clothing item has been ethical, go for it!

Written by Simone There’s a wardrobe item that has been outperforming all the others of late, because it’s just so damn versatile for those tricky transitional autumn months. Let us take a moment to tip our hat to the humble calf-length skirt, which can be teamed with sandals for the…

Today, I was tasked to write a #WomenWeLove piece, celebrating the strength, resilience and determination of amazing women. When I asked around the office and some of my closest friends who they saw as an iconic strong woman, the response was mixed - it included some amazing women such as…
